Sunday, July 11th 1993: Ennis, MT to Townsend, MT or ... A human butt is starting to hurt a bit!

Once again my boss finds it hard to get out her bed - especially when it's still cold outside.

Breakfast is on your own and my boss finds her way to the Ennis cafe.

The first 10 miles are easy going. My boss cannot resist a stop at the sign 'Belgian Crossing'.

While she proudly waves her flag, the horses walk over to us and Marilyne goes up to them and has a talk with them.

The 7% climb brings us up to a great view of the valley:

The downhill to Norris feels like a well deserved reward. The road to Harrison brings rolling hills: "Don't kill yourself on these - don't go too fast!" In Harrison we go into a diner to eat a maple-roll. Here my boss learns that Johan Musseeuw is currently leading the Tour de France.

The aid station is just before Three Forks: here the Madison, the Gallatin and the Jefferson rivers converge forming the Missouri river. My boss thinks the houses in Three Forks do not fit in the scenery, but she doesn't tell me why.

At the gas station which sits on the crossing of MT 287 with I 90, my woman makes a phone call home. She hears from the home front that her ceiling in the kitchen has tumbled down at one point - luckily the cat Bolle didn't get hurt. For the rest - all is well with the family.

And this afternoon is the first time my boss cycles in short and t-shirt (no sweater, no trousers). The bare scenery stays with us until we reach Toston. From there we get a view of the Missouri - well, the marshes surrounding this big river. The traffic picks up with trucks racing by.

In Townsend we overnight next to the pool - yes: time to go swimming!

Dinner is good: chicken, corn, potatoes and pie as dessert.

Outside the mosquitoes are buzzing around. Clouds in the sky are already gathering again: will it rain during the night?
